For Staying Close to Our Lord
Pray, our Lord will hear you!
Heal my hurts, O Lord,
with your love,
with your life,
with your gentle strength.
In my pain, in this Calvary,
let me find You.
Let me carry my cross
as You did yours-----
with trust,
with compassion,
with hope of new
life ahead.
Whatever happens Lord,
day by day,
help me keep my faith in You.
Amen.

THE WAY OF THE CROSS
Taken from Queen of Apostles Prayer Book
The Way of the Cross is the way of patient suffering, of obedience to God and resignation to his holy will. It is replete with spiritual benefits. It is the way of salvation for every true disciple of Christ.
“If any man will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me” (Mt. 16:24).
Preparatory Prayer
O merciful Jesus! With a contrite heart and penitent spirit I undertake this devotion of The Way of the Cross in honor of Your bitter sufferings and death.
I give humble thanks for the boundless love which impelled you to carry the cross for me, an unworthy sinner, and to die for my redemption.
Make me worthy to gain all the spiritual benefits which are granted for this holy exercise.
I offer them to You in satisfaction for my sins, for which I am heartily sorry, for consolation of souls in purgatory and for the grace to persevere in the pathways of virtue. Amen
What Is Prayer?
Prayer is powerful. Joins us in prayer for those in need. Only through dedicated prayer can the ills of our nation and our world be healed. Join us in praying.

The elevation of the mind and heart to God in praise of his glory; a petition made to God for some desired good, or in thanksgiving for a good received, or in intersession for others before God. Through prayer the Christian experiences a communion with God through Christ in the Church. [2558-2565CCC]
Prayer in the Christian Life"
Great is the mystery of the faith!"
The Church professes this mystery in the Apostles' Creed and celebrates it in the liturgy, so that the life of the faithful may be conformed to Christ in the Holy Spirit to the glory of God the Father. This mystery, then requires that the faithful believe in it, that they celebrate it, and that they live from it in a vital and personal relationship with the living and true God. This relationship is true prayer. [2558CCC]
In Brief
"Prayer is the raising of one's mind and heart to God or the requesting of good things from God" (St. John Damascene, De fide orth. 3, 24:PG94, 1089C).[2590ccc]
God tirelessly calls each person to this mysterious encounter with Himself. Prayer unfolds throughout the whole history of salvation as a reciprocal call between God and man.[2591ccc]
The prayer of Abraham and Jacob is presented as a battle of faith marked by trust in God's faithfulness and by certitude in the victory promised to perseverance.[2592ccc]
The prayer of Moses responds to the living God's initiative for the salvation of his people. It foreshadows the prayer of intersession of the unique mediator, Christ Jesus.[2593ccc]
The prayer of the People of God flourished in the shadow of the dwelling place of God's presence on earth, the ark of the covenant and the Temple, under the guidance of their shepherds, especially King David and the prophets.[2594ccc]
The prophets summoned the people to conversion of heart and, while zealously seeking the face of God, like Elijah, they interceded for the people. [2595ccc]
The Psalms constitute the masterwork of prayer in the Old Testament. They present two inseparable qualities: the personal, and the communal. They extend to all dimensions of history, recalling God's promises already fulfilled and looking for the coming of the Messiah. [2596ccc]
Prayed and fulfilled in Christ, the Psalms are an essential and permanent element of the prayer of the Church. They are suitable for men of every condition and time. [2597ccc]
